Galaxy Host 8 –  NGC 7793 (9 XGOs)

Annotating this photo was a challenge.  I had a good start using the chart in Huey’s Observing Extragalactic Objects Within Host Galaxies.  But the DD80 notations on the chart were not very intuitive.  Turns out that they come from this source: Davoust, E., & de Vaucouleurs, G. (1980). “Velocity fields in late-type galaxies from Hα Fabry–Perot interferometry. II. Kinematics and dynamics of the Sd spiral NGC 7793.” The Astrophysical Journal, 242, 30–52.

I had some trouble verifying that the annotations I derived using Pixinsight’s AnnotateImage script lined up with the chart in Huey.  After rotating the photo I was able to verify, for instance, the my annotation for DD80 94 matched that in the Huey chart.  I was helped by AI in my search for the correct RA and Dec data.  Note that in a couple cases I tracked down DD80 entries that are not on Huey’s chart (DD80 13 and 14, for instance).  Here is the table of data I used to generate the annotations.
